Dreaming

What should I do?
Should I get out of bed?
My bus will come soon,
Is what my mother just said.

I don’t want to get up
Or to get myself dressed.
I want to stay in bed,
And simply get rest.

I close my eyes so tight,
And the dreams will just come.
Crazy dreams, yes,
But crazy and fun.

The first thing that I see
Is a cow jumping high.
To swim is his dream,
And he starts with his dive.

A dog is there too.
At a table he sits.
His dinner’s like mine
Simply cut into bits.

My dreams are so crazy,
So crazy and fun.
Animals do what they want,
Even slugs can now run.

The small little lamb
In my dream can now talk.
She wants me to take her
To the beach for a walk.

A lost friendly bunny
Uses his ears to now fly,
And the kangaroo hops
To get a piece of a pie.

I look deep in my dream.
I see a cat on a bike,
With a tight helmet on,
Doing just what he likes.

I don’t want to stop dreaming
Or get out of bed.
The animals are funny
With the dreams in my head.

I see lots of animals.
In small groups of two.
They’re walking so quickly
With homework to do.

Now even with dreams
I see them and myself
Doing homework so quickly
And reading books off the shelf.

The homework’s for school
Where I go everyday.
I keep dreaming of the place
I have to get to some way.

Once again, I hear my mother
Telling me to get up from bed.
I need to get to school now,
And listen to what she said.

So now I will get up,
And get ready for my day.
Tonight, I’ll still dream
And watch the animals play.

When I Grow Up….

When I grow up someday, what should I choose to be?
There are so many choices, but which one’s right for me?
Should I go to college? What diploma should I get?
Do I want to be a doctor, or a lawyer, or a vet?
I could also be a plumber, a waiter, or a cop.
I could be a baseball player or write and never stop.
What would I do each day? What job is right for me?
A perfect dancer on the stage, or a famous actor on tv?
Should I be a scientist, and learn how to cure disease?
Or do I help the homeless, right here or overseas?
Construction workers are important, but electricians are that too.
What about a dentist’s job, I might want to do that too!
I could be a teacher or the principal of school.
What about the president? That would be so very cool!
I could be a firefighter and save a million lives.
I could drive a tractor-trailer and take a million drives.
Let us not forget what else that I could be.
A pilot in the sky, or a sailor in the sea!
The choices are so many, with so many things to do.
I can see so many choices but can do just one or two.
From artist to zookeeper there are many things to be.
Someday I’ll figure out what job is right for me.
Today I think I’ll wait, and take the time to play.
I’ll wait to see what happens as I grow up each day.
And then I’ll make the choice of what I want to do.
But since I’m just a kid, I have a day or two!

Doctor, Doctor!

The pain I feel is so severe
it has to be the worst pain here!
The pain it throbs inside and out!
It hurts the worst I have no doubt.
The others seem to have no pain.
My pains the worst I’m not insane!
Joey says his pain’s not gone,
But I still hurt to even yawn!
Now Kim just gets to wear that wig,
But I have pain that is so big!
And look at Peter over there
he just rides that great big chair!
Tommy gets to rest all day!
I hurt too much to even lay.
The doctor has not told me why…
why I hurt so much I cry.
The pain just has to be the worst!
Why can’t the doctor see me first?
The boy gets crutches so he can play,
but I hurt more than I can say!
Oh doctor please just come see me.
I hurt the worst why can’t they see!
Oh, here he comes to see me now!
My pain’s the worst I shout out loud.
The doctor slowly takes his time,
Just to say that I’ll be fine!
I shout it hurts from toe to ear!
The doctor says don’t shed a tear.
I see the scratch upon your knee.
It is the size of one small pea.
Just put a bandage on right there,
and help the ones who need more care

Now they’re broken bones or cancer wig
makes your scratch seem not so big.
Peter cannot even walk
and Tommy now will never talk.
You do not need to whine all day,
when you think of pain their way.
There probably is still quite a few
that are so much worse than you.
So think of them, and take your time
to see that you are really fine.

His Brother’s Bike

The little boy rides happily along
Just using his big brothers’ bike.
The wheels it has are much bigger than his,
And has a horn he really likes.

Riding today seems so easy to do,
And the weather just seems so nice.
Today he waves to all his friends outside,
And then decides he’ll do it twice.

His brother would not be happy with him
If he ruined the bike today,
But when his brother said it would be okay
He chose to ride it right away.

Riding this bike is so much better than his.
He blows the horn again once more.
His brother’s bike is cool, but really big.
He had no clue what was in store.

He rounded the turn, but his shoe just slipped.
His feet on pedals did not last
And then his hand slipped off the handle bar
The wheels both turned so very fast.

He started to fall a bit to the side.
All his possible fear set in
When all of a sudden, he saw the sign,
And lost control from deep within.

He hit the sign, and his bike fell over.
Then quickly tears did start to come.
He could not tell what hurt him more,
His leg and pride both hurt him some.

With handle bars dented and one flat tire
He limped home with his broken pride.
He worried now what his brother would think
With the broken bike at his side.

At his driveway now, his brother saw him.
His brother then ran right to him.
His brother asked if he was okay,
And helped him with his painful limb.

The little boy then just started to cry.
He said, “I’m sorry about your bike.
I really did not mean to make it crash.
I’ll try to fix it if you’d like.”

His older brother just gave him a hug,
And said, “It’s not about the bike,
It’s only about if you’re okay,
Because it’s you I really like.”

Then they went inside the house together,
With brother helping him to walk.
With the broken bike still there on the ground,
Two brothers take the time to talk.

Bikes, and toys and many games are here.
Today, they’re here for you to play.
No matter what, every toy will change,
but a family’s here to stay.
