Dreaming

What should I do?
Should I get out of bed?
My bus will come soon,
Is what my mother just said.

I don’t want to get up
Or to get myself dressed.
I want to stay in bed,
And simply get rest.

I close my eyes so tight,
And the dreams will just come.
Crazy dreams, yes,
But crazy and fun.

The first thing that I see
Is a cow jumping high.
To swim is his dream,
And he starts with his dive.

A dog is there too.
At a table he sits.
His dinner’s like mine
Simply cut into bits.

My dreams are so crazy,
So crazy and fun.
Animals do what they want,
Even slugs can now run.

The small little lamb
In my dream can now talk.
She wants me to take her
To the beach for a walk.

A lost friendly bunny
Uses his ears to now fly,
And the kangaroo hops
To get a piece of a pie.

I look deep in my dream.
I see a cat on a bike,
With a tight helmet on,
Doing just what he likes.

I don’t want to stop dreaming
Or get out of bed.
The animals are funny
With the dreams in my head.

I see lots of animals.
In small groups of two.
They’re walking so quickly
With homework to do.

Now even with dreams
I see them and myself
Doing homework so quickly
And reading books off the shelf.

The homework’s for school
Where I go everyday.
I keep dreaming of the place
I have to get to some way.

Once again, I hear my mother
Telling me to get up from bed.
I need to get to school now,
And listen to what she said.

So now I will get up,
And get ready for my day.
Tonight, I’ll still dream
And watch the animals play.
